Darlene Doreba Spotts, 89, of Huntsville, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Aspire Senior Living in Moberly, Missouri.
She was born on October 8, 1936, in Moberly, Missouri, the daughter of John and Leona (Munden) Schell. Darlene was united in marriage to Norval Lewis Spotts on April 10, 1955, in Huntsville, Missouri. He preceded her in death.
A graduate of Huntsville High School, Class of 1954, Darlene dedicated her life to caring for her family and home. She was a homemaker who found great joy in the simple things-reading, cross-stitching, cooking for her family, traveling, bowling, and attending her children's and grandchildren's activities. She was a devoted member of the Huntsville United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for several years and shared her faith and kindness with others.
Darlene is survived by her children: Steven (Sheila) Spotts of Huntsville, MO; Michael (Melissa) Spotts of Lee's Summit, MO; and Kimela (Mike) Massey of Huntsville, MO. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Lance (Mandy) Massey, Tyler (Melissa) Massey, Clay Massey, Alissa (Danny) Brendle, Shae Spotts, Peyton Spotts, and Raegan Spotts; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one nephew, John Schell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norval; granddaughter, Tori Spotts; nephew, David Schell; and two brothers, Darrell and John Schell.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the Huntsville United Methodist Church, with Rev. Sione Veituna and Rev. Jim Robinson officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri. Inurnment of her husband Norval with Full Military Honors will also take place.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Huntsville United Methodist Church or the Leona Schell LMS.
