Darlene Melvina Taylor, age 75, of Hiawassee Georgia, passed peacefully on Monday March 3, 2025 following her stay at Chatuge Regional Hospital. Darlene was born in Cleveland, GA, March 28, 1949 to Walter and Hazel Hicks. Darlene was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist church. Anyone who knew Darlene, knew that she lived for her family that she loved dearly. She was a talented seamstress and crocheter who masterfully crafted her pieces with diligence and care. Darlen held immense pride for her career as a police officer for the city of Gainesville, GA, for 5 years and Clayton County for about 15 years. Darlene is preceded in death by her husband, Millard Taylor, and her daughter and son-in-law Karen and James Abercrumbie, as well as her sisters, Geraldine Savage and Claudine Free. Survived by her is her daughter, Michelle Taylor; brother, Ricky Hicks and his wife Helen Hicks, and grandchildren Zach Taylor and Tori Taylor; great grandchildren, Levi Taylor, Brooklyn Taylor, Vella Bradshaw, and Ella Mitchell. Many nieces and nephews , who she loved dearly, also remain. Darlene will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
