Visit the Bevil Bros. Funeral Home - Beaver Dam website to view the full obituary.

Darrel Mayhugh Daugherty was born on March 13, 1941, in Ohio County, Kentucky, to Wesley William and Violet Virginia Geary Daugherty.

A proud veteran, Darrel served his country with honor and dedication - first as a United States Marine during the Vietnam era, and later retiring from the United States Army Reserve. His commitment to faith, service, and family carried him through a life rich with experience, travel, and steadfast love.

After 84 years of a full and faithful journey, Darrel received his Final Orders on July 29, 2025, peacefully entering the arms of his Lord and Savior. Though he departed before fulfilling two of his final dreams - returning to his church and going fishing once more — his spirit rests in grace and completion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved daughter Carolyn Ann Daugherty, and his sister-in-law Lynn Daugherty.

Darrel leaves behind a legacy of love through his devoted wife, Martha Curtis Daugherty, and his biological son Joshua Kristian Wesley O'Daugherty of Dover, Delaware. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Genifer Heath Roy (David) of Cisco, Texas; Travis Andrew Heath (Katelyn) of Minot, North Dakota; Demain Wilshire (Paola) of Camden-Wyoming, Delaware; and Rene O' Daugherty (Alyssa) of Boston, Massachusetts. His great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy, include:

Greggory Roy, David Jr. (DJ) Roy, Kody Roy, Emmett Wilshire, Seamus O' Daugherty, Mauricio O'Daugherty, and Viggo O'Daugherty, as well as Ana O'Daugherty, Ariana Roy, Jade Roy, Allison Pennington, Gracie Roy, Amélie Wilshire, Josie, and Juniper Heath. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Mundt (Mark) of Crestwood, Kentucky, his brothers: Wayne Daugherty of Oregon; William Daugherty (Robin) of Illinois; Truman Daugherty (Kaye) of Tell City, Indiana; and David Daugherty of Morgantown, Kentucky. As well as several nieces and nephews and Great nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Christ Covenant Church in Morgantown, Kentucky, on November 29, 2025, at 1:00 PM.
