Darrel Husa Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Suchon Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Plymouth on Mar. 12, 2024.
Darrel F. Husa, age 83, of Kohler, passed away peacefully on March 11th, 2024, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. He spent his final days surrounded by his children, sharing stories and laughter while listening to his favorite music.
Born on March 31st, 1940, in Crete, Nebraska, Darrel was son to the late Robert and Florence (Markle) Husa. He attended school in Crete, Nebraska, graduating High School in 1958 and in 1962 from Doane College. In 1962, he married the late Connie Farmer and had 3 children: Robert, Michael, and Tom. On September 21, 1974, he married the late Linda Schumacher and had 2 children: John and Kate. Married for nearly 48 years, Darrel and Linda's love story was made for a novel, filled with love, tears, laughter and joy.
Darrel was a true salesman his whole life. From his younger years working at his father's service station in Nebraska, to the height of his career as North American Sale Manager for Kohler Engines until his retirement in 2004, and his later years restoring and selling antiques. While at Kohler, Darrel was an integral part of the sales and launch of several industry leading engines. There were even two ventriloquist puppets modeled after his likeness as sales mascots (hey, it was the 80s). From 2000 to 2019, Linda and Darrel owned and operated The Red Rooster, an antique shop in Plymouth. He was often found working behind the desk and kept the shop open while Linda battled several cancer treatments over the years.
Darrel found his moments of peace watching sunsets over the lake up north with good friends and relaxing in his infamous screen house with his beloved dogs by his side. He took pride in a well-manicured lawn and restoring antique furniture. He spent many summers as chief mechanic and pit boss for Kate's go-karting years in Elkhart Lake. Darrel was a member of the Sheboygan Elks Lodge and Sheboygan Pine Club. He was known for telling great stories about his biggest joys and accomplishments. He also enjoyed hunting, attending races at Road America, and riding his Harley after retirement. Family was important to Darrel, and his stories will live on through their memories and laughter.
Survivors include his children Robert "Bob" Husa (Diane Deedy) of Breckenridge, Colorado, Michael (Nellie) Husa of Bethel, Alaska, Tom Husa of Exeter, Nebraska, John (Vanessa Langhoff) Husa of Sheboygan and Kate Mueller of Plymouth; grandchildren Rhea Maxie and Hans and Henry Mueller; great grandchildren Kaylee Kohl and Craig and Trinity Maxie; sister Darlene (Keith) Pribyl; and brother-in-law Rev. James (Jane) Schumacher. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda, his parents and many close friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday March 23rd, 2024, at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth from 10:00-12:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow. The service will be livestreamed for those who are unable to attend and available to watch on www.facebook.com/suchonfuneral.
