Darrell F. Dreesen, age 88 of Hartington, Nebraska died on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the Arbor Care Center in Hartington.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington with the Rev. Owen Korte officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael’s cemetery in Hartington. Visitation will be on Wednesday, at church, from 5-7:00 p.m. with a Vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Thursday. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Dreesen, Bob Sohm, Dan Kollars, Roger Wortmann, Paul Steffen, and Roger Brodersen.
Darrell Frederick was born on July 25, 1937 in Hartington, Nebraska to Frederick J. and Minnie (Peterson) Dreesen. He grew up in the East Bow area and attended school at the Branch Creek School. Darrell started farming with his dad and then married Colleen Henrietta Kollars on April 16, 1958 in Crofton, NE. They purchased farm ground and then after his father died in 1972, Darrell began farming the home place. Darrell was a dairy farmer, raised crops and pigs.
Darrell belonged to the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and held an hour of adoration for many years. He was very strong in his faith. Darrell liked polka music, square dancing, belonging to the Coleridge Saddle Club and going on trail rides. After he retired from farming, he and Colleen enjoyed travelling and visiting family and friends. They went to the Wisconsin Dells, Branson Missouri and Colorado to visit their grandson and his wife. After Colleen's death, Darrell took a few trips to South Carolina to visit his grandson in the Army. Darrell always enjoyed seeing the countryside on their drives. Darrell loved visiting with friends and family. He always enjoyed meeting new people.
Darrell is survived by two children, Scott Dreesen of Hartington, Lori (Bob) Sohm of Sioux City, Iowa; grandson Dan (Amanda) Dreesen of Manhattan, KS; nieces and nephews Don (Kathy) Dreesen of Columbus, NE, Diane (Kevin) Brummer of Ankeny, IA, Darla Dreesen & Bill King of Yuma, AZ, Matt (Valerie) Dreesen of St. Louis, MO; great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Colleen on 11/6/2015 at the age of 77 years; a brother Duane, sister in law Marian Dreesen and niece Donna Koch.
