Randy Jansen, age 63 of Hartington, Nebraska died on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD due to complications from an auto accident he had a month and a half ago.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Constance with the Rev. Marcus Knecht officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Constance. Visitation will be on Thursday, at church, from 9-11:00 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.
Pallbearers will be Leon Jansen, Rick Jansen, Robert Jansen, Jody Albrecht, Brian Thoene, Tim Burbach, and Darlo Jansen. Honorary pallbearer will be Jeffrey Walter.
Randall Gerard was born on September 4, 1962 in Yankton, SD to Martin Anton and Alice Clara (Shaefer) Jansen. Randy grew up in the Hartington & Crofton area and graduated from Crofton High School in 1980.
Randy worked for Ron Burbach for many years before joining Jerry’s Service in Hartington, where he was employed as a fuel truck driver for many years. He was a dedicated farmer and rancher who took great pride in hard work and enjoyed working on vehicles. A true cowboy, Randy had a deep appreciation for the outdoors.
Randy was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington. In his free time, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, four-wheelers, and taking his favorite Camaro out for a joy ride. He also enjoyed hunting, leatherworking, and crafting his own horse tack.
Randy is survived by his five children - Cody Jansen (Nikki Putnam), Alison Jansen (Xavier Shiu) of Atlanta, Georgia, Grace (Jared) Bessmer of Plainview, NE, Austin Jansen of Hartington, NE, Aspen Jansen of Osmond, NE; Granddaughter Aubrey Putnam; brothers: Leon Jansen, Rick Jansen, and Robert Jansen; sisters: Yawni Conrad, Karla Drotzmann, Kristi Trimble, Jamie Hassenstab, and Rhonda Jansen.
He was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Alice Jansen, brother Jay Jansen, sisters Jodi Jansen and Phyllis Jansen; sister-in-law Elizabeth Jansen.
