Darrell Wade Hook

Darrell Wade Hook, a son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, in his hometown of Evansville, IN, at the age of 53. Born on December 20, 1972, to his mother, Debbie Rhew, Darrell's life was one marked by his love for the outdoors, and his need to be wih his family and friends.

Darrell was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing, often waiting patiently for the next big catch. His love for gambling was only matched by his passion for yard work, where he took pride in creating beauty and order in his surroundings. Darrell's big heart led him to help anyone in need, always preferring to remain in the background, never seeking recognition for his acts of kindness.

He leaves behind a family who loved him: his mother, Debbie Rhew; his sister, Karen, and her husband, David Gamblin; and his Uncle Allen Russell;

;his niece, Jessica Barton; and his nephews, David B. Gamblin and Zachery Gamblin and his wife Ashley. Darrell was also survived by his three great-nieces and two great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Frances Russell and the love of his life Pam Maikelranz.

Darrell's life was enriched by the companionship of his dear friends, Tristan and Oscar, with whom he shared many of life's adventures. Their bond was a testament to Darrell's ability to form deep and lasting friendships, and his absence will be profoundly felt by all who were fortunate enough to know -him.

As we bid farewell to Darrell Wade Hook, we celebrate a life lived with love of family and friends. His memory will be in the hearts of those he touched, with his acts of kindness. Darrell's journey on earth may have concluded, but the stories of his generosity, his laughter, and his love for family and friends will be missed.
