Mark S. Kerchief

Mark S. Kerchief, 72, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at Brickyard Healthcare-Woodbridge Care Center. He was born November 4, 1953 in Evansville to the late Dorothy (Scherer) and Shirley M. "Bud" Kerchief.
Mark graduated from Frances Joseph Reitz High School in 1971 and attended Ivy Tech Community College. He worked at Amax Coal Company as a heavy equipment operator driving the earth movers and was also a welder. Mark was an avid coon hunter and enjoyed listening to all genres of music. He was a long-time and active friend of Bill. Mark was raised in the Catholic faith. He was very proud of his children and enjoyed attending their athletic events.
Mark is survived by his children, Ryan (Breanne) Kerchief, Leslie (Gavin) McNeeley and Lenzie (Hunter) Ewin; siblings, Kristie Franklin, Shirley (Darrell) Blankenship, Julie Cates Kerchief, Danny (Kathy) Kerchief, Greg Kerchief and Paul (Amy) Kerchief; grandchildren, Kole Kerchief, Hadley Gardner, Hensley Gardner, Griffith Ewin, Graham Ewin and Greer Ewin; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his brothers, Keith Kerchief and Brian Kerchief; and brother-in-law, Ken Franklin.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 N. First Ave., Evansville. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Father Lowell Will officiating. Services will be livestreamed and can be viewed on Mark's tribute page at www.ziemerfuneralhome.com.
Entombment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery.
