Darrell Johnson

Rev. Darrell P. Johnson, age 63, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 11, 2024, after a recent illness.
Born February 5, 1960, in Loris, he was the son of Jane B. Johnson and the late Buck L. Johnson. Rev. Johnson was the pastor at Lordsway Baptist Church, and he recently retired from Horry County Code Enforcement after nearly twenty years of service.
Rev. Johnson - known to many as Coach Darrell - spent numerous seasons teaching the ins and outs of baseball and football to young athletes at the Loris Recreation Department. In 1995, Rev. Johnson led the Loris All-Stars to victory in the Palmetto Small-Fry League state championship, the first win of its kind for the city.
Surviving Rev. Johnson are his wife of 43 years, Wendy C. Johnson; two sons, Justin Dean Johnson (Kristy) and Adam Joseph Johnson (Karen Schneider); sister, Darlene Hardee; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Wendell and Betty C. Carter; two brothers-in-law, Philip Carter and Lowell Carter (Dawn); several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and countless members of his church and work families.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Loris Chapel, with Rev. Andy Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Carter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
