Darrell Ray LaClair, 69, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, died Friday, March 1, 2024, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo.
He was born September 3, 1954, in Independence, Mo., the son of Clarence James "Jim" LaClair and Melbale Jeanne (Willard) LaClair. On December 22, 1983, he married Tina Kay Fields in Raytown, Mo., and she preceded him in death on August 28, 2017.
Darrell graduated from Lee Summit High School. Following graduation, he pursued several careers giving him a wide variety of abilities and experiences. He was a carpenter, working in all aspects of the trade, installed patio enclosures and became a salesman with the company, and worked for American Freight. He and Tina had food trucks and spent Summers on the road, traveling to fairs across the Midwest in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri. He owned an exotic pet store in Raytown for several years and enjoyed animals, especially llamas, goats, and Great Dane dogs. He knew how to make and fix things and enjoyed spending time in his woodshop or working on models to keep his hands busy. Darrell loved his life, having no regrets, living each day to its fullest.
Survivors include a sister, Sharon Tellier, Hoyt, Ks.; a niece, Ali Currie (Garrett); and 3 great-nephews, Garreson Currie, Reid Currie and Eric Williams and his mother, DeAnna Williams; a great-great-niece, Rhyan Williams; and his significant other Pat Trask, Pleasant Hill, Mo. In addition to his wife Tina, he was preceded in death by his parents.
