A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, in McComb, Mississippi at McComb First Assembly of God starting at 11:00am.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mae Bruce Merrifield; sons, Lonnie Merrifield (Annette), Darren Merrifield (Nicol), Sammuel Merrifield (Mary Jane), Josh Merrifield (Rhonda); daughter, Tina Merrifield Verrett (Timothy); grandchildren, Lauren Boudreaux (Joseph), Katie Boudreau (Alex), Bryttny Steele (Jonathan), Niki Picou (Dante), Nykalys Pasache (Laney), Holly Merrifield, Jayce Merrifield, Samantha Merrifield, Alex Merrifield, Alexis Merrifield, Makayla Merrifield; step-grandchildren, Jeremy, Jacob, Kyle, Kendellynn, Taylor, Colby, and Kora; and great-grandchildren, Allie, Anna, Luke, Felix, and baby Ella Grace on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Darrell Thayer Merrifield and Eunice Pearl Taylor Merrifield; and his brother, Glen Merrifield.

I remember a special day on April 25, 1973, he came over at our house to discuss the Holy Spirit which I was questioning what he knew about the Holy Spirit!! He asked if he could pray over me and I said yes. After the prayer he left to go home and my life was changed from the moment I closed the door. I was filled with the Holy Spirit in a burning love. I´m forever grateful the Lord used him to help me find Him, and grateful to him for letting himself be used. I always considered him a "brother" to me. Rest in peace my dear "brother of the heart". Heaven is there for you. Hope to see you again 1 day.

He was my godfather. When I was born, he bought me a jump rope and some jacks and said that should last me for a few years. Every time he would come to our house, I would hide under our big round dining table because if he caught me he would pick me up by my ankles, hold me upside down and tickle me. Always a pillar in the church and solid man of God. He will always be remembered until we meet again. Love you parain!
