Mr. Darrell Quentin Phillips, age 71, of West Jefferson, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at his home on Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2025.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 7:00 PM at the Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Mark Harless officiating. Graveside services will follow on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Burkett Memorial Cemetery with military rites.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, two hours prior to the funeral service, at the funeral home.

He was born in Ashe County on July 9, 1954, to the late Carl Herbert Phillips and Helen Sheets Phillips.

Mr. Phillips was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and trapping. He loved listening to bluegrass music and was known for his humorous personality, always ready with a joke for everyone. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a dedicated Christmas tree farmer. He was married to the love of his life, Joyce Bledsoe Phillips, for 50 years.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Bledsoe Phillips; his mother, Helen Sheets Phillips of Jefferson; two daughters, Carla Brannan and husband Bruce, of West Jefferson, and Shelley Phillips and fiancé Charles Stansberry, of West Jefferson; two sisters, Twyla Smith and husband John, of West Jefferson, and Kathy Phillips, of West Jefferson; two grandsons, Quentin Brannan and Jasper Brannan, both of West Jefferson; several nieces and nephews; and numerous friends who felt like family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Herbert Phillips; a sister, Sandy Blevins; and a brother, Dwight Phillips.
