Darrell Gene Russell, 63, passed away peacefully at his home in Huntington, Arkansas, on Saturday, March 29, 2025. Born on July 2, 1961, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, he was the beloved son of Arland Eugene Russell and Hazel Marie Russell Comstock. Darrell was known for his vast skillset and hardworking nature, earning a reputation as a "Jack of all trades." Most recently, he worked as a security guard at Crane Industries. In his free time, he found joy in gardening, raising chickens, hunting, and fishing. However, nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with his cherished grandchildren. Darrell will be remembered as a kind and generous man and the best "Poppy" his grandchildren could ask for.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Beckie Russell; his three children, Matthew Russell and wife Meagan, Josh Russell and wife Rachel, and Awbrey Russell and partner Zac Smith; five grandchildren, Katelyn, Kaiden, Jo-hanna, Addy, and Jesse Russell; two brothers, Johnny Russell and Gary Russell; and one sister, Genia Bartlett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arland Russell and Hazel Russell Comstock; his mother-in-law, Linda Lewis; and his father-in-law, Rufus Lewis.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Clark's Chapel Cemetery in Huntington, Arkansas, with Chaplain Todd Roland officiating. Pallbearers will include Matthew Russell, Josh Russell, Jason Copeland, and Zac Smith, with Darrell's beloved grandchildren serving as honorary pallbearers.
Services are entrusted to Lewis Funeral Chapel.
