Darrell Sawyer Obituary
Darrell was born in Gardiner, ME to the late Ronald Harry Sawyer and Jeanne A. Brann Taker. He was a graduate of Gardiner Area High School class of 1982.
Darrell was employed by the Red Dog Mine Company in AK as a driller and blaster until he had a career ending motorcycle accident. He truly was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed tinkering with them in addition to riding. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter during his years in Alaska.
Darrell is survived by his childhood sweetheart, together 43 years and wife of 23 years, Nancy Jane Sawyer; his mother and stepfather, Jeanne and Tim Taker; one aunt, several uncles, many cousins, and numerous friends he considered extended family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Disabled America Veterans at www.help.dav.org, St Jude's at www.stjude.org or your local animal shelter.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Burroughs Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Murrells Inlet (843.651.1440) is honored to assist the family.

I worked with Darrell at Red Dog and my wife Joan knew his wife Nancy.
I was born in New Hampshire and Darrell was from Maine so we shared a little kinship of New England.
Nancy and Darrell dropped me off at he hospital as I was having heart trouble.
They both hugged me when I went to the hosp. will never forget you my friend.
Rest in peace. Lippy
