Darrell Gene Sloas, 80, of Grayson, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 4, 1945, in Ashland, KY, he was the cherished son of the late Samuel Estill and Florence Porter Sloas.
Darrell was preceded in death by the love of his life, Carolyn Adkins Sloas, a son, Randy Gene Adkins; his brothers, Estill Sloas, Jr. and Watts Truman Sloas; sister, Norma Jean Sloas; grandson, Dalton Cole Adkins; niece, Stacy Sue Sloas Kiser; and brother-in-law, Seth Justice. His legacy lives on through the love and memories shared by his family and friends.
A dedicated auto mechanic by trade, Darrell spent many years serving the community of Grayson as part of Sloas Auto Repair. Darrell retired from General Refractories in Hitchins. His unwavering commitment to his work was only matched by his faith.
Darrell found joy in the simple things in life, especially in spending time with his family and going for walks. He leaves behind his daughter, Lesa Gillum; two sons, Chris Sloas and Brian Sloas, all of Grayson; seven grandchildren, Brittney Doyle, Christopher Sloas, Jr., Christopher Spillman, Skyler LeGrand, Celsey Adkins, Tara Wilder and Brianna Sloas; and many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Rosie Justice of Grayson, Linda (Art) Handloser of Ashland, and Jewell (Bobby) Sprouse of Grayson; two brothers, Gerald (Bonnie) Sloas and Edward (Charlene) Sloas, both of Grayson; along with a host of extended family and friends who will deeply miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the Malone Funeral Home, with Bro. Donald Damron and Bro. Bradley Cotten officiating. Burial will follow in the East Carter County Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11 AM until the service hour.
