Jerry Marlin Porter, age 70, of
Grayson, Kentucky, peacefully departed this life on January 30, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family after a courageous battle with illness. Born on March 27, 1955, in Grayson, he was the son of the late Roy Humphrey and Carrie Lou Casteel Porter. Jerry was welcomed into eternal rest by three beloved sisters: Rhoda Porter Harper, Juanita Kennedy, and Rosella Porter.
A devoted member of Victory Christian Center in Webbville, Kentucky, Jerry served as an assistant pastor and took joy in managing the auditorium's audio and video needs, sharing his talents with the community he cherished. For many years, he worked alongside his beloved wife, Judy, as a telecommunications installer, exemplifying their deep partnership both in work and life. He was also the owner/operator of Summit Video during the 1980s and 1990s, where he enjoyed selling collectibles and comic books. An avid adventurer, Jerry loved riding four-wheelers with his family on weekends, celebrating life's simple pleasures.
An accomplished musician, Jerry's passion for music was evident in his role as a professional bass player, performing with various bands throughout his life. His vibrant personality and infectious smile brought joy to many, illuminating every room he entered.
Jerry had a deep love for family. Some of his most treasured moments were spent gathered with loved ones, watching sci-fi movies and creating lifelong memories. He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Judy Lynn Riffe Porter; his two sons, Jerry "Bub" (Melissa Oakley Griffith) Porter, Jr. of Grayson, and Christopher (Marie) Porter of Denton; four adoring grandchildren, Drew (Madison) Porter, Gavin Porter, Xaiver Griffith, and Lexi Sexton; and three great-grandchildren, Trinty McDowell, Aliah McDowell, and Elijah Porter. He is also survived by two brothers, Roy (Rebecca) Porter of Huntsville, Alabama, and Sammy (Carolyn) Porter of Grayson, along with a host of friends and family who will deeply miss him.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 1 PM at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson, with Bro. David Webb officiating. Visitation will begin at 11 AM on the same day until the hour of service.
