Darrell DeWayne Tucker's earthly journey ended, and he transitioned to his heavenly home on Monday, July 4, 2022. On September 29, 1957, he was welcomed into the arms of his late Mother and Father Edna Mae Tucker and John Duncan in Columbus, Ohio. He attended West High School and furthered his education at James Madison University.
On January 22, 1983, Darrell pledged his marriage vows to Kathy Sue Tucker at Trinity Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor E. A. Parham. Darrell would often tell the story of his mother's stern words to him "You better not ever leave that girl!" Darrell took those words and tucked them away in his heart as he lived up to a standard of commitment and undying love with his spouse of 39 years of marriage.
At the age of 39, Darrell was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Personal Savior at Oakley Full Gospel Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Andy C. Lewter, Sr. During his tenure at Oakley Full Gospel Baptist Church, he served on the Mass Choir, Male Chorus, Security Ministry, Usher Board, Iron Man, and Hospitality Ministries. Darrell willingly offered help wherever and whenever it was needed.
His unmatched devotion and commitment to his family ensured that they were taken care of at all costs. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family and did so without complaining. It was always his utmost desire to make sure that his family had what they needed, and it gave him personal gratification knowing that he was doing the best that he could to raise and care for the family that God blessed him with.
Throughout his many years of employment working in the business sector, health care and transportation fields, he gained much respect and appreciation from his Managers, Supervisors and co-workers. Darrell possessed a strong desire to serve others. His built-in nature to connect with everyone he met was one of his strong suits. He knew no strangers and rarely was there ever a time when he'd be out and about in the community and wouldn't be recognized by someone he knew. Whether at a grocery store, the park, a gas station, sporting event or any public arena he would always start up the conversation with those he met. Better know as "Tuck" by his close friends, Darrell always exemplified a warm smile when greeting others. While spending time with his family, he would oftentimes display his "Young at Heart" personality. He took pride in staying "hip and relevant" with the younger generation and would unexpectedly "bust a move" when listening to old school, gospel, or hip-hop music. Whether transporting his clients to their doctor appointments, chemotherapy treatments, dialysis or just to a nearby grocery store, Darrell immensely enjoyed conversing with them. Always providing a listening ear he especially loved listening to life-lesson stories from his senior passengers, all the while giving words of wisdom and knowledge to the younger passengers.
Preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Charles, Ronald, and Theodore Tucker. The life and legacy of Darrell will forever be cherished by his spouse Kathy Tucker, sister Karen Towns (Curtis), sons Corey Tucker (Denise), Andre Scofield, daughters Vanessa Tucker, Amanda Hale (Joshua), grandchildren Aaron Lewis, Alexis Lewis, Kamiya Hale, Xavier Tucker, Elijah Hale, Aurora Tucker, Sariah Tucker, Jeremiah Ferguson, great grandchildren, Novaiah, Kingston, J. J. Staples, sisters-in-law, Roslind Tucker, Kay Johnson, Karen Childs, Karla Watson, Kina Jones, Kristin Jones, Marla Jones, brothers-in-law Allen Jones, Jerry Watson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Darrell was a stellar employee. More importantly he was a phenomenal man who always had a smile that brightened the rooms he walked into. He took his job here at Tristar very seriously. He wanted to not only make a living, but make a difference. He absolutely achieved this with every life he touched. He assisted his clients with a true desire to help make their day better. He helped train and mentor the new drivers with wisdom, not only about work ethics, but understanding and "service" to others. Darrell was valued by the office staff for his dedication to the job, but also for the conversations, the laughter and the friendship he offered each one of us. I offer my heart filled sympathies to his wife and family.

I've known Darrell since our elementary school days. Darrell was always very outgoing with lots of enthusiasm. While growing up Darrell was an exceptionally good football player while playing in the Hilltop little leagues and when he went to West High School he made the varsity football team in his freshman year. After growing up I didn't see Darrell a lot but some way we would always run into each other every now and then and reminisce about our earlier days. Darrell was always very energetic, up beat and encouraging. It's hard to believe he's gone. To the Tucker family please accept my sincere condolences.
