Darren Moore Obituary
Darren was born in Wilmington, DE to William Moore and Joann Moore.His mother Joann, predeceased him. One sister, Dawn Jones and two brothers, Donald Hitchens and Darren Hitchens, Sr.
He attended Dickinson High School, graduating in 1982 before continuing his education at Delaware State University. Delaware State is where he met and married the love of his life Ellyn in 1989. Through their union they welcomed Brandi Alexis and Darren Jr.
Darren had a passion for helping people. Darren was a State Farm Insurance agent for 28 years. His contributions to the community were vast. Darren integrated Wilmington Christian School being the First AA student, State Champion Football at John Dickinson 1980, 1st Team All State Running Back 1981. He was a Founding Board member of Kuumba Academy and he was on the board of Delaware Community Reinvestment Action Council.

I received a letter from State Farm that immediately made me sad... letting me know Darren had passed. I met him many years ago when he took over for Robert Biddle. I believe he was pretty new to State Farm at that time. Although I didn't have a need to see Darren very often, he always made me feel like we were old friends... always smiling and always helpful. I am keeping him in my prayers and hoping for his families (work and home) that their memories of him will help them through this very difficult time. God bless you all in this time of sorrow.

Opening my mail from State Farm today left sadness in my heart to read the passing of Darren. Darren has not only been my insurance agent for over 20 years but has been a friend. He insured me and then my daughters. Darren always had a smile on his face and treated everyone like they were part of his family. Sending lots of healing prayers to his family along with his work family.
