With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, James Darrin Reeder, known to all as Darrin, who departed this life on December 29, 2025, due to complications of pneumonia. Born on February 9, 1967, in
Brigham City, Utah, Darrin was a man whose resilient spirit, loyalty, and unwavering support for those he loved left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Darrin was a graduate of Box Elder High School and Ricks College, where he was awarded Outstanding Freshman in Animal Science and earned his Associate Degree in Animal Husbandry. His talent as a rancher was unparalleled, and his ability to connect with animals was truly exceptional. His love for ranching and working with cows and horses reflected an innate understanding of and respect for the natural world. Over the years, he worked on many ranches, including Deseret Ranches of Florida and J.Y. Ferry & Son of Corinne.
Later in life, Darrin discovered another gift-carpentry. This talent emerged during the renovation of his and Sue's home, where he transformed dreams into reality with his skilled hands. If Sue could dream it, Darrin could build it.
Darrin was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His strong testimony carried him through many challenges and trials. The happiest days of his life were the birth of his three children; his marriage to Sue on November 2, 2018; and their sealing for time and all eternity in the Logan Temple on September 23, 2023. The love they shared was profound and boundless. Darrin found great joy in planning their future, envisioning retirement, and taking countless vacations together. He cherished long car rides and what he referred to as a romantic day trip to Walmart-simple moments where they could talk and enjoy each other's company. He often shared that his greatest desire in life was to be the best possible husband to Sue and to show her how deeply he loved her.
Darrin also cherished visits with his children and grandchildren and enjoyed many outings with his sister and brother-in-law. His big blue eyes, beautiful smile, enormous hands, and the sight of him putting around at 5 mph behind the wheel of Ol' Blue will be dearly missed.
Darrin found peace in the scripture: "And, if you keep my commandments and endure to the end, you shall have eternal life, which gift is the greatest of all the gifts of God" (Doctrine and Covenants 14:7). This scripture guided him daily, strengthening his faith in both his personal and professional life. Though his passing was sudden and unexpected, family and friends find comfort in knowing that the spiritual and emotional growth he had begun continues. We long for the day when we will be reunited again as an eternal family.
Darrin was preceded in death by his father, Dawn Reeder.
Darrin is survived by his wife, Sue Reeder; daughter, Kailey (Travis) Tait; son, Braiden Reeder (Kaitlynn); daughter, Oakley (Connor) Ashby; Sue's two children and eight beautiful grandchildren; his mother, Lozon "Lucie" Reeder; brother, Dawn "Bret" Reeder (Jeri); sisters, Lisa Ann Jarrett (Clark) and Marcia "Marcie" Kim Andrew (Rod).
