Mr. Darryl H. Ritchie, age 81 of
Hanover, Indiana, entered this life on February 24, 1942 in Jefferson County, Indiana. Darryl was the loving son of the late Howard O. and Helen L. Wehner Ritchie. He was raised on the family dairy farm and graduated from Dupont High School in 1959. He was inducted into the United States Army and honorably discharged and transferred to the Reserves. He was blessed with a daughter, Carla, from his first marriage. On April 3, 1976, Darryl was united in marriage to Patti Sue Peak at the Hanover United Methodist Church. This union of 47 years blended two families together and added a son, Greg, and a daughter, Hannah. He farmed for himself and others for 25 years before joining the sales team for Super Crost Seeds Company in Kentland, Indiana for 10 years. He then co owned and operated F&D. Salvage, where he sold salvaged lumber for several years. He retired from Davis Implements near New Washington, where he was proud to sell John Deere equipment for 10 years. Darryl farmed for himself for 25 years.A member of the Wirt Baptist Church, Darryl enjoyed gardening, bird watching, following NASCAR, supporting IU basketball, and collecting John Deere tractors. He enjoyed the outdoors, traveling via RV, woodworking, and racing, plus anything John Deere related. Darryl was a strong supporter of local high school sports and the Indiana Hoosiers. He attracted friends and strangers alike with his friendly and assured personality. His quick wit and dry humor will be remembered by all whom he knew. Darryl died on Sunday, November 26, 2023 at 6:15 a.m. at his home in

Darryl will be missed by his loving wife of 47 years, Patti Sue Peak Ritchie of
Hanover, Indiana; his daughters, Carla Ritchie Ginn and her companion, Doug Pittman of Deputy, Indiana, Hannah Ritchie Trapp and her husband, Darin of Scottsburg, Indiana; his son, Greg Ritchie and his wife, Cynthia of Goshen, Indiana; his step sons, Heath Taylor and his wife, Tracy of Vinton, Louisiana, Brent Taylor of Vinton, Louisiana; his grandchildren, Ethan, Colton, Ainsley, Patrick, Preston, Kanyon, Elizabeth, Michael, Jordan, and Bryce; his sister, Gwenolyn Kay Law and her husband, Billy of
Madison, Indiana; his sister in laws, Carol Key of
Madison, Indiana, June Ritchie of
Madison, Indiana; his uncle, Harlan Wehner and his wife, Polly of
Madison, Indiana; his aunt, Ruby Wehner of
Hanover, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard O. Ritchie, died December 31, 1997, his mother, Helen L. Wehner Ritchie, died December 16, 2013, his brother, Charles Frederick Ritchie, died May 30, 2015, his brother in law, Paul J. Key, died March 12, 2021.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE CEREMONY
Memorial services will be conducted Friday, December 1, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. by Bro. Doug Lee at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in
Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow later in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road in
Madison, Indiana.

MILITARY HONORS
A final salute with military honors will be provided by the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion.
