Mr. Darryl H. Ritchie, age 81 of Hanover, Indiana, entered this life on February 24, 1942 in Jefferson County, Indiana. Darryl was the loving son of the late Howard O. and Helen L. Wehner Ritchie. He was raised on the family dairy farm and graduated from Dupont High School in 1959. He was inducted into the United States Army and honorably discharged and transferred to the Reserves. He was blessed with a daughter, Carla, from his first marriage. On April 3, 1976, Darryl was united in marriage to Patti Sue Peak at the Hanover United Methodist Church. This union of 47 years blended two families together and added a son, Greg, and a daughter, Hannah. He farmed for himself and others for 25 years before joining the sales team for Super Crost Seeds Company in Kentland, Indiana for 10 years. He then co owned and operated F&D. Salvage, where he sold salvaged lumber for several years. He retired from Davis Implements near New Washington, where he was proud to sell John Deere equipment for 10 years. Darryl farmed for himself for 25 years.A member of the Wirt Baptist Church, Darryl enjoyed gardening, bird watching, following NASCAR, supporting IU basketball, and collecting John Deere tractors. He enjoyed the outdoors, traveling via RV, woodworking, and racing, plus anything John Deere related. Darryl was a strong supporter of local high school sports and the Indiana Hoosiers. He attracted friends and strangers alike with his friendly and assured personality. His quick wit and dry humor will be remembered by all whom he knew.
