Darryl Scott Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Riley Funeral Home - Lansing on Jun. 27, 2024.
Darryl Bryan Scott, a soul of gentle grace, concluded his earthly journey on June 25, 2024 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lansing under a wintery Michigan sky on January 28, 1958, he wove a tapestry of 66 years, rich with the hues of kindness, patience, and an unwavering gentle spirit.
The heart of Darryl's family, his compass and steadfast wife, Valorie, survives him, alongside their children: Sarah (Steven), Bryan (Heather), Megan (Colter), Angelina and Gina. He was the patriarchal star in the constellation of his grandchildren: Noah, Joseph, Kaileigh, Elijah, Brooklyn, Boston, Charleigh, and Oakley. His legacy is their ongoing melody, a lullaby of love that echoes beyond the silence. His siblings, Carol Nixon, Hazel Nickles, Michael (Elnora), Dennis (Beverly) of Lansing, and Terrence (Patricia) of Palmdale, California, are the keepers of the flame that was Darryl's spirit. He is also survived by sister-in-law Rebecca Lohone and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Darryl was preceded in death by his parents, LT and Mavis Scott, and brother Bruce Scott.
A loyal alumnus of Sexton High School (class of 1976), Darryl's thirst for knowledge carried him to the halls of Lansing Community College, where he earned an Associate of Arts degree. He dedicated more than forty years to the Lansing Board of Water & Light as a power plant operator. Darryl's dedication to his work is a testament to a life of unwavering service and commitment.
Darryl was a dedicated fan of the New England Patriots, having supported the team fervently since 1973. His passion for the game and his team brought joy and excitement to his life and those around him, and he could often be spotted driving his Patriots adorned Silverado.
In Darryl's hands, a golf club was not merely a tool but a wand, casting spells of joy across green landscapes. With brush and pencil, he created worlds serene, each stroke a verse in his ode to beauty. His children and grandchildren, his most adored subjects, danced in his imagination and reality alike.
Darryl's grandfather was Superintendent Perry Robinson, founder of the St. Paul Church of God on Christ. Though his spiritual journey began at the family church, he was a faithful member of Mount Hope Church. Darryl's faith was a quiet brook, nurturing the roots of his being and offering solace amidst life's tempests. It was within this sanctuary that his spirit found both harbor and voyage.
The final stanza of Darryl's earthly passage will be composed at Mount Hope Church in Lansing, where the whispers of his memory will be immortalized with reverence. Here, those who loved him will gather to bid adieu, as the echo of his essence lingers like the last notes of a favorite melody.
