Darryl G. Tostenson
Darryl George Tostenson, 83, of Burnsville, MN, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025. Darryl, son of George and Alta (Gilbertson) Tostenson, was born on March 11, 1941 in St. Peter, MN. Darryl grew up on his family's farm in Norseland, MN and graduated from Gaylord High School where he participated in football, woodshop, and Future Farmers of America.
During his summers, Darryl enjoyed working as a mechanic for Circle 7 Racing. Darryl met the love of his life, Donna Asleson, at a Gaylord High School baseball game, and they married on March 16, 1963. Then, Darryl began his career as a Regional Manager at Clark Service Station
in New Ulm, MN. In 1975, Darryl moved his family to Grand Forks, ND where he found his passion for construction. Darryl owned and operated Darryl Tostenson Construction and built nearly one hundred homes and commercial properties. In 1995, Darryl and Donna moved to Burnsville, MN where he continued his passion of construction by working at Lampert Lumber for 29 years.
Along with Darryl's love for construction, he loved auto racing, Minnesota sports, and the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux hockey. Darryl spent many summers in his RV traveling to race tracks and National Parks around the United States.
Darryl is survived by his sons Kevin (Dawn) Tostenson of Plymouth, MN and Nathan (Sunday) Tostenson of Elko New Market, MN; grandchildren Matthew (Rachel), Andrew, Emily, Megan, and Abigail; great-grandchildren Gideon and Simeon; sister Bonnie Sellner; sisters-in-law Jeannette Tostenson, Janis Pasiuk, Mary Asleson, Pat Asleson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife Donna; son Brent; parents George and Alta; sister Janet; brother Larry, parents-in-law Raymond and Florence (Anderson) Asleson; brothers-in-law Gene Sellner, Edward "Spike" Pasiuk, Gary Asleson, Harlan Asleson, and Robert Asleson.
The Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Hosanna! Lutheran Church in Lakeville, MN. A Visitation will be held an hour prior to Darryl's Celebration of Life. The Interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. at New Ulm City Cemetery in New Ulm, MN.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to the American Heart Association.
