Darwin Jay “Ike” Brubaker, 74 of Boswell, Indiana passed away in his residence on Friday, March 14th, 2025.

Ike was born on June 22nd, 1950 in Huntington, Indiana to parents Burl and Lola (Tyner) Brubaker. He was a 10-year member of the Huntington County 4-H program. He was graduated from Huntington County Community High School in 1969 and was active in the Rural Youth program. Ike immediately went into farming and remained involved in agricultural and livestock farming for the rest of his life.

Ike married the love of his life, Mary Beth (Dysert) in 1977 at the Locust Grove Church, Ambia, Indiana and lived in Huntington, and the couple then moved to Warren County in 1979. Ike and Mary Beth raised their family, daughters Jayme (Erik) Bender of Wadesville, Indiana and Jennifer (Dustin) Barnard of Boswell, Indiana.

Ike’s first priority was taking care of his family. He also loved working the land and was actively involved in the Warren County 4-H program as a volunteer. In later years he was an avid fan of his grandchildren’s 4-H livestock showings and enjoyed fishing with family and friends in Birchwood, Wisconsin whenever he could. Ike also enjoyed attending Purdue University men’s basketball games in West Lafayette with Mary Beth.

Ike is survived by his wife, daughters, sons-in law, grandchildren Kaylee, Kade and Kyleigh Bender, and Melanie and Kyle Barnard, and brother Dennis (Janell) Brubaker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Deloss Brubaker and father-in law Russell Dysert and mother-in law Eliza Mary Dysert.

A visitation for Ike will be on Wednesday, March 19th, 2025 at the West Lebanon Christian Church in West Lebanon from 4 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be on Thursday, March 20th, 2025 at the church at 10 am, immediately followed by a burial service at the Locust Grove Cemetery, Ambia, Indiana with the Minister Bruce Thornsbrough officiating.

In lieu of flowers, Ike’s family respectfully requests that memorial donations in his name be made to the Warren County 4-H Fair Board.
