Darwin Noble Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ryan Funeral Home & Crematory - De Pere on Dec. 5, 2025.
Darwin 'Red' Noble, died peacefully on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Unity Hospice Meng Center. Red was born on January 21, 1935 in the town of Mitchell, SD but his family actually lived in Artesian at the time. His parents were Howard and Lena (Larson) Noble. He had one sister, Janice (Neilsen). After his birth, the family soon moved to Woonsocket, SD where he lived most of his young life. He loved working on the family farm with his uncles, loved swimming at the local lake and playing with his dog, Jackie.
After graduating from Woonsocket HS, he volunteered for the Army and served in Okinawa, Japan during the end of the Korean War. After serving, he was discharged and went back to SD to attend college at Northern State University in Aberdeen where he graduated with a degree in Engineering. He relocated to Minneapolis, MN where he met the love of his life, Barbara Stutz, around the same time he got his first 'real' job with Super Valu based in Green Bay, WI. They married in 1962 and settled in Green Bay, which he was excited about because not only did he have a great job but his beloved Packers were also there!
Which brings us to one of his favorite things – sports. Being from a small town, Red played almost every sport at Woonsocket HS but his favorite then was basketball. He idolized Stan "the Man" Musial and was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He loved going to Packer games and attended the famous Ice Bowl.
Red enjoyed trying new things - especially sailing, running, downhill and cross-country skiing. He loved working with his hands and was always building things in the garage. His pride and joy was their cottage up north (Nobleland) where he cut, sanded and stained every piece of wood on the walls inside. Red and Barb loved to travel. He was very proud of his Norwegian heritage, and a highlight of his life was a trip to Norway with Barb, his sister Janice, and cousin Twila.
Church was also a big part of his life and was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, GB. He and Barb moved to Greensburg, PA ('86) where he worked for Charlie Brothers of Pittsburgh, PA until his retirement in 1997. They moved back to Green Bay to be with family and to spend more time at Nobleland. They became members at Christ Community Church during this time.
He was preceded in death by both his parents, his wife, Barb, his sister, Janice and is survived by his children, Mark (Deb) Noble and Kristin (Rick) Voskamp as well as his grandchildren, Lauren, Karissa and Erik, and his niece and nephews, Diane, Brent and Dane.
A celebration of Red's life will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Christ Community Church, 1742 Servant Way, Green Bay, WI. The family will receive friends starting at 10:30am until the time of the service at 11:30am with Rev. John Sell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Christ Community Church or your favorite charity.
