Daryl A. Beltz, 55, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday the 17th of August 2025, at his residence. Daryl was an "Ides of May" baby born on Friday, the 15th of May 1970, in Orrville, Ohio, the son of Robert and Connie (Anderson) Beltz. Daryl spent his childhood in Orrville, graduating from Orrville High School in 1988. He later lived in Athens, Ohio for many years before moving to Reynoldsburg in 2001.
Daryl briefly attended the University of Akron and later received his Bachelor's Degree (with Honors) in Accounting from THE Ohio University. He was a Certified Public Accountant and worked in the private sector for many years. Along the way, Daryl deployed to the Persian Gulf in 1990-91 and came home with more than a combat patch and a suntan. He met the love of his life, his cherished wife Angela in of all places the sands of Saudi Arabia. When they came home, he offered to move to North Dakota, but she gladly accepted his invitation to move to Ohio instead!
Daryl was a natural leader; had an amazing smile and sense of humor and made every room he walked into just a bit cozier. He was very generous with his time and always ensured his Family, friends and Soldiers were taken care of. He spent countless hours coaching his boys and attending all of their key events, and supported his wife in all of her adventures, regardless of how busy he was and what he was dealing with. He focused on the things that matter and the people who were important to him.
Daryl dedicated his life to serving his community, state and nation. As a traditional Reservist and National Guardsman, he served in various leadership roles, operations and missions throughout the world. In 2004, he made the decision to become an Active Guard Reserve Officer. He later deployed to Afghanistan in 2011 with the 1-134th Field Artillery Regiment, earning his Bronze Star Medal. Other military career highlights include his command of the 1-134th Field Artillery Regiment, serving as Deputy Commander of the 147th Regional Training Institute and in various senior staff roles. He mentored hundreds of Soldiers and made an impact at every stop. Daryl was selected by the Department of the Army for promotion to full Colonel but elected to retire before attaining that rank. He concluded his military career in 2021 with more than 32 years of service.
Daryl is survived by his loving wife of thirty-three plus years, Retired Army Sergeant First Class Angela (King) Beltz, his beloved sons Wyatt and Garett, his sister Kristine Beltz, brother Daren Beltz, his in laws Bill and Julie King, Rhonda (King) Stirling (Brett). Lacey King, Leo King, and his second parents Uncle Dave & Aunt Debbie Anderson in North Carolina. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who are too numerous to count, his "bonus" children and grandchildren, the Sowder and Bystry Families, and his pups Oliver and Tenzo. He was preceded in death by his mother Connie (in 2008), his father Bob (in 2020) as well as other relatives and friends.
The outpouring of love and support as well as the many stories shared just in the last 48 hours are a true testament to the kind of man and friend Daryl was. He will be missed- 'til Valhalla.
