Daryl Cooper, 75, of Waukon, IA was called home to the Lord on November 8th, 2023, at Garden View Place in Monona, IA while surrounded by his loving family.
Daryl James Cooper was born January 1, 1948, in Monona, Iowa, the son of Harmon and Marion (Henderson) Cooper. He attended country schools and graduated from Waukon High School. On November 21st, 1970, he married Inez Normann at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon. He worked for the State Highway Commission (DOT) for thirty-three years, serving as Supervisor for three counties during his last sixteen years.
Family was very important to Daryl, he loved spending time with everyone, especially his grandchildren. He loved hunting, fishing in Canada, camping at Blackhawk Park in De Soto, WI, and Harley rides with his wife and friends. The longest trip was to Alaska, Inez on the back of his bike and Leonard Bulman riding by their side. The three of them rode 3500 miles in seven days to Anchorage. Daryl also enjoyed going to South Dakota with Inez and the Bulmans, riding four wheelers and seeing the countryside.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Inez of Waukon, his children Nancy (Pat) Hart, Jim (Stacie) Cooper and Betsy (Joe) Teff, his eight grandchildren Dylan Hart, Lily Kossman, Sean, Issac, Faith and Hannah Cooper, Jacob and Joseph Bailey Teff, and his six siblings, Dorothy (Bob) Henning, Marlene Hartley, Vernon (Eileen) Cooper, Judy (Jerry) Sommer, Beverly (Tom) Leiran, and Marlin Cooper.
Daryl was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Stanley and Virgil Cooper, and brother-in-law Don Hartley.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Waukon Fairgrounds Pavilion on November 25th, 2023, from 3 pm to 7 pm. Urn bearers will be his children and their spouses, alongside his grandchildren. Honorary urn bearers are Leonard Jackie Bulman, Rick Sue Rissman, Mick Sweeney, Den Nancy Sweeney, Reg Rissman, Lori Thies, Jim Normann, BJ Hoppersett, Patty O'Neill, Jeanine Cogdill, and Betty Plunker.
