David Allen Cavender, affectionately known as Dave by his loved ones, passed away on June 14, 2025, at the age of 60, in Fowlerville, Michigan. Born on January 10, 1965, in Detroit, Michigan, Dave was a man whose life was marked by creativity, kindness, and a free-spirited nature.
Dave grew up in a lively household, the son of the late Don and Beryle Cavender. He was a beloved brother to Sherry (the late Tom) Kropp, the late Linda (Tom) Barker, the late Donna (Craig) Mercer, Ted (Janice) Cavender, Patty (Rob) Petersen, and Michael (Theresa) Cavender. His life was enriched by the love and laughter of his family, including his daughter, Alexa (Brent) Clark, and his many nieces and nephews, the late Matt, Shannon, Suzanne, Victoria, Melissa, Nicole, Jessica, Elijah, Levi, Terry, Chris, Kelly, and Melanie. A special mention must be made of his long-time family friend, Jonny Bostwick, who stood by him through thick and thin.
Dave's professional life was a testament to his passion for classic cars. As an auto body professional, he spent most of his life restoring the beauty of vintage automobiles. His artistic touch and attention to detail brought countless vehicles back to their former glory, much to the delight of car enthusiasts and collectors.
Beyond his work, Dave was a man of many interests. His love for playing guitar was evident in the melodies that flowed from his fingertips, a talent that brought joy to those around him. A true handyman, Dave could often be found fixing, creating, or improving things. His artistic and creative spirit was not confined to his profession; it was a part of everything he did.
Dave's quirkiness and eagerness to learn new things about the world made him a unique and cherished individual. His YouTube videos, created for family and friends, were a window into his world, showcasing his projects and the simple joys of daily life. He was a free spirit who lived life on his own terms, embodying the essence of what it means to be true to oneself.
Above all, Dave was a simple man with clear priorities. His first love was his cars, and anyone who knew him understood the depth of his passion for restoring them. His second love, perhaps humorously, was Mountain Dew, a testament to his lighthearted approach to life.
Dave Cavender will be remembered as a creative soul, a kind heart, and a handy man who left an indelible mark on the lives of those he touched. His legacy will live on in the memories he created, the work he accomplished, and the love he shared. Though he has departed from this earthly journey, the melody of his life will resonate forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
