Dave L. Crum

David Leroy Crum, age 69 of Southgate, passed away on September 11, 2024 peacefully.
Loving father to Carrie, Ryan, and Lindsay and her husband B. Loving grandfather to Dean and Owen. Loving spouse of 30 years to Shirlee. Loving son to his late parents, Leroy and Loretta. He was also well loved by many cousins and friends.
Born in North Tonawanda New York, he learned at a young age the value of hard work and a kind heart, from his father and mother respectively. buying his first motorcycle as a teenager, he continued to ride his entire life. after college, Dave moved to Detroit Michigan to work with Detroit Edison for over 30 years. He made many lifelong friends at the power plants. after working his way up to Supervisor of the power plant, he downshifted to a lower position to put more time and energy into being around his family.
Dave had an unwavering love for sports, from playing football and softball, to coaching his kids' soccer teams and letting his family try to beat him at mini golf by the beach. He taught us all the merit of being kind, diligent, and just. He and his laughter will be sorely missed.
Memorial gathering will take place on Monday, September 16, 2024 at the Allen Park Chapel of the Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 10915 Allen Rd. Allen Park, MI 48101, from 12 pm to 6 pm. Funeral service will start at the end of the gathering and will conclude entirely after the service. He will be cremated afterwards and rested in place at Acacia Park Cemetery in North Tonawanda, NY.
A second memorial will be held in North Tonawanda at a later date. please contact Dave's children for information.
In lieu of flowers, any monetary donations made to the family will be set aside for Dave's grandchildrens' education.
