October 6th started like many other fall days in Mid-Missouri, cloudy with the chance of rain or sunshine. The Dodgers were playing the Cards in the wild card game for the play offs of the world series. Birds chirped, leaves danced in the wind, and the sun eventually shown through the clouds.
Dave William Roberson lived a life that many people dreamed. He loved his family, his God, and his country. He was a lifelong Dodger Fan and republican who listened to Rush Limbaugh and Fox News daily and was pretty sure that with a few beers we could solve all the world's problems.
Born September 10th, 1955 and raised in a state known for its beauty, the golden state of California. He shared many memories of his childhood in Atascadero, Paso Robles and Parkfield. In 1974, he graduated from Atascadero high school and soon after started a family of his own. In 1982, he and his family left the golden state to start an adventure in Mid- Missouri, and boy what an adventure he had!
On the partly cloudy day of October 6th at 8:55 pm surrounded by family, Dave W. Roberson departed this world for an 9 pm appointment with the Lord. I'm pretty sure St. Peter and Davey welcomed him with open arms as he was escorted to the office of God. They probably debated the world problems over a few beers before they both headed off to meet with the loved ones who have been waiting patiently for their arrival.
He is survived by his lovely wife of 22 years, Sanda Roberson; his children, Guy Roberson, William Roberson, Stephanie Hilt and husband Will, Jenny Roberson, Lonny Fields and wife Melissa and Jodi Weaver and husband Jonathan; 23 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; his Uncle David Dunn and wife Aunt Dolores; his brother Tom Roberson and wife Kathy; sister Pam Boatman and husband Tim and many more friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Carma Roberson, his oldest son Davey Roberson, his Aunt Shirley, and sister Roberta Roberson.
A visitation for Dave W. Roberson will be held Thursday, October 14th, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. with services to follow at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorial contributions are suggested to Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home.
That must have been some conversation he had with God. He managed to fit in one last favor you see, the Dodgers and Cards were tied 1-1 until the bottom of the 9th, when the Dodgers gained a 2-run lead winning the wildcard game 3-1.
Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
