Dave Wilson Jr. passed away on September 14th, 2024, at the age of 80 years old, surrounded by loved ones. He was a loving husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and dear friend to many.
Born in Pontotoc, Mississippi, Dave Wilson Jr. lived a life filled with love, laughter, and kindness. He was known for his strong work ethic, warm smile, strong demeanor, and unwavering generosity.
Dave and his wife, Ruth moved to Hopkins, Michigan in 1970 where they bought a large farm to raise their beautiful family and build their legacy. Dave was a true Cowboy and loved sporting his cowboy hat and boots. He was a very strong-minded man and was not afraid to be his true self. He was a jack of all trades and a master of them too. Whoever knew him knew he was an amazing man through and through. He was a man with the heart of a lion and would help any and everyone that he could. Dave had a heart of gold and a laugh that bellowed through a room. He had stories for days that would have you so enthralled and asking for more. He was truly an inspiration to us all and led by example. A wise soul who was tougher than nails and fought until his last breath.
God broke the mold when he created Dave Wilson Jr. He was an entrepreneur who started D & W Trucking and Excavating after working for the Michigan Wisconsin Pipeline for 5 years. He was a true master mechanic, loved animals (especially horses), enjoyed hunting and fishing, and anything nature related. A true workaholic who didn't believe in sitting still. One of his favorite things to say was, "Nothing comes to a sleeper, but a dream." He will be remembered for his funny personality and witty slogans.
Dave worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator / Truck Driver for Day Break Foods the last 9 years of his life. Where he was respected for his dedication, knowledge, and hard work. He approached every task with diligence and integrity, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of working with him.
Dave will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Ruth, of 60 years, his children Anita Fay Ealey, Bruce Michael Wilson, Darryl Wilson (Nicole Wilson), Zachary Allen Wilson, and DaVida Aleisha Wilson, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends. Preceded in death he will meet his two other children, Phyllis Marie Wilson and Harold Yancy. He leaves behind many brothers and sisters who he loved dearly. He touched the lives of many and will be remembered fondly for his strength, kindness, compassion, and good spirit.
A celebration of life will be held to honor Dave on September 29th, 2024 in Hopkins, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request that donations be made to The Wilson Family (Ruth Wilson), in memory of Dave Wilson Jr.
Dave Wilson Jr. may have left this world, but his love and legacy will continue in the hearts, minds, and souls of all who knew him.
