DAVID WILLIAM GALVIN

October 27, 1942 - September 19, 2025

"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20"

On September 19, 2025, David William Galvin was welcomed into the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ. He was saved at a young age during a church service at Bethel Baptist Church, in Lansing, Michigan.

David and Sandy, his loving wife, were blessed to be married for 62 years. They began dating during the last part of their Senior year in High School and dated for three years prior to being married in June of 1963. The Lord has blessed them with a large family which includes 6 children, 17 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.

David graduated from J. W. Sexton High School in June of 1960. He went to college at Michigan State University and graduated in March of 1964, with a degree in Fisheries Biology. He was hired by the State of Michigan and began working at the Wolf Lake State Fish Hatchery and then worked up to Superintendent of the Oden State Fish Hatchery near Petoskey, Michigan. In June of 1978 he accepted a position by the State of Alaska working in Homer and managing a Fish Hatchery across Kachemak Bay in Tutka and Halibut Cove for two years. In 1980 he felt led by the Lord to move his family to Ft. Myers, Florida to help a missionary pastor with a church rescue. He then began a 25 year career for the State of Florida Environmental Health Department and retired at the end of 2005.

David enjoyed camping, and over the years progressed from tent camping to enjoying the convenience of RV "camping" as he grew older. He enjoyed fishing whenever he had the opportunity. Upon retirement David & his wife Sandy moved to Riverview, Florida. They enjoyed many summers of RV travel through most of the United States as well as Canada.

David attended Daniels Road Baptist Church while living in Ft. Myers, and served as a Deacon, served as an Awana Commander, was an Usher, and helped with miscellaneous projects during the building of the new church building. After retirement he attended Providence Baptist Church and served on the Missions Committee, was an Usher, volunteered to run the gymnasium snack bar with his wife during basketball games, and led activities for older members of the church.

He is survived by his wife Sandy of 62 years, children David, Jr. (wife Rebecca), James (wife Karen), Sherry (husband Chris Rennie), Stephen (wife Susan), Jonathan, and Erin (husband Daniel Gardner).

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Providence Baptist Church, 5416 Providence Road, Riverview, Florida on Saturday, September 27, 2025 with visitation at 10 a.m. and the Celebration of Life at 11a.m.
