David William Adams, 82, of Nowata, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday morning, August 27, 2025, at Ascension St. John Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

David was born on September 16, 1942 in Valeda, Kansas to William C. Adams and Iva A. (Teuful) Adams. As a child, he grew up in the Lenapah and Delaware area. David married Helen I. Adams on November 3, 1962, in Nowata, Oklahoma but they later divorced in 1986. They had three beautiful daughters, Donna, Anita and Vivian. David worked in the oilfield and then later he went to work for TRW REDA Pump that later became known as Schlumberger. He worked for these companies from March of 1967 and retired in 2009. While working he also farmed crops such as soybeans and wheat. He retired from farming when he was 78 years old.

He loved hunting, cutting wood, farming and driving the roads to look at other farmer’s crops.

David is survived by his daughters, Donna Smith and husband Roger of Delaware, Anita LaRue and husband Burke of Chelsea, and Vivian Adams of Caney, KS; Brother Roy and wife Dawn Adams of Delaware, OK. Brother Jerry and wife Geneva Adams of Owasso, OK, Sister in law Susan Adams of Oklahoma City, OK. Grandchildren, Hannah Miller and husband Kyle, Darrin Smith and wife Keeley, Robby Smith and wife Kaley, Megan Jernigen and husband Ramey, Wesley Smith, Kevin Smith, Daelyn Smith and Legend Smith. Great grandchildren Harley, Wyatt, Dean, Demarco Miller, Zoe and Hudson Smith, Abigale, Gavin and Everly Smith, Clara and Kellen Jernigen; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents William C. & Iva A. Adams, sister Norita Akers, brother John Adams, nephew Jimmy Adams, and niece Patty Adams.

David was a very hard worker, and he instilled the same strong work ethic in his kids and grandkids, and he always told them a hard day’s work, was a good earned dollar.

Graveside services for David will be held on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025, at 3:00pm in the Mt. Washington Cemetery, Lenapah. Casket bearers will be Darrin Smith, Robby Smith, Ramey Jernigen, Bobby Marrow, Bryce Marrow, and Brendan Marrow.
