David Altick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by St. John's Family Funeral Home & Crematory on Feb. 3, 2026.
David Harrison Altick, Jr., 80, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on January 29, peacefully at Baptist South Hospice Center.

Born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, David was the son of the late David and Mary Jane Altick. He was a proud graduate of the University of Dayton, where he earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. Dave devoted more than 30 years of his professional life to working as an electrical engineer salesman, a career that reflected his sharp intellect, attention to detail, and love of precision. In addition, he built relationships with his coworkers, just as he did his friends.

After retiring, Dave had more time to enjoy the things he loved most: golfing, fishing, reading, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren and granddogs, for whom he had a special fondness.

Dave was known for his impressive vocabulary and keen appreciation for grammar, often delighting those around him with clever wordplay and thoughtful conversation. Dave was referred to as kind, loyal, hardworking, and the life of the party. Above all else, he cherished time spent with his family, who were the center of his life and greatest joy.

He is survived by his daughter, Mollie Altick; grandchildren, Maggie Magill and Collin Magill; sister, Mary Mueller and brother, Bernard Altick. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charlie Altick.

You will be missed by the people who knew you and spent time with you. We had many great times in our work life and our time socializing, golfing and UD vs Jacksonville football games.
