David Altman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 24, 2025.
David Franklin Altman, MD, MBA shuffled off this mortal coil on August 12, 2025, at the age of 79, with his beloved wife, Pamela Belluomini, by his side. He faced Parkinson's Disease with strength and grace for 25 years while leaving a lasting legacy as a physician, educator, and healthcare leader.

Born in Washington, D.C., and raised in Pittsburgh, David graduated from the Carnegie Institute of Technology and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He trained at UCSF, where he later joined the faculty, contributing to early HIV/AIDS research, helping establish the liver transplant program, and serving in key leadership roles, including Associate Dean. His distinguished career spanned clinical medicine, health policy, and administration, highlighted by a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellowship, work with Senator Jay Rockefeller and the Clinton Health Care Reform Task Force, and senior roles at LAC+USC Medical Center, Alameda County Medical Center, and Integra Managed Long-Term Care in New York.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, David loved music, opera, travel, and, most of all, his family. He is survived by Pamela, his son Alessandro and wife Kristen, his brother Martin, and his lifelong friend Dr. Greg Pawlson. He was predeceased by his brother Michael.
