A Memorial Service for David Dal Baker, Sr., of Jena, will be held September 28, at Kinner & Stevens Funeral Home in Jena, with family visitation at 2:00 pm and Service at 3:00 pm.
Mr. Dal Baker (82) went to be with the Lord on September 6, 2024, at LaSalle General Hospital in Jena. He was born on February 23, 1942, to Edwin Oliver Baker and Alice Gabriel Baret Baker.
He grew up in Summit, Mississippi and graduated from Johnson Station High School and attended Howard College (now Samford University) in Birmingham, Alabama where he completed his Pharmacy degree in 1962. He married Patsy Lynn Roberts in 1961. He worked as a Pharmacist in New Orleans and other parts of Louisiana, including Jena, for over 50 years in total. He owned Baker's Pharmacy in Metairie, Louisiana from 1980 until 1989. He married Paulette "Polly" Limoges Richard Baker on February 26, 2005. Dal loved his family, loved the Lord, and loved riding his Harley Davidson Tri-Glide with Polly all over the Southeast. He was a skilled woodworker and could build or fix just about anything. In later years, he also developed a love for his garden and his plants: he really had a green thumb.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, Edwin L. Baker, LeVeq Baker, Brandt L. Baker, and King M. Baker; and a sister, Delores Barnett.
Survivors are his wife, Paulette Limoges Baker; his first wife, Patsy L. Baker; Sons David Dal Baker, Jr. (Kimberly), Troy Edward Baker; daughter, Vicki Baker Weales (Billy); stepdaughter Chelsea Richard; stepson Joseph Richard (Janee'); sister Alice Soileau (Joseph); 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
