David Lee Barnhouse

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David (Dave) Lee Barnhouse, age 53, who died on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Barnes Jewish Hospital. Dave was born on April 10, 1972, in Farmington. He worked for over 10 years as a correctional officer at Potosi Correctional Center, where he built strong relationships with coworkers and was known as “Barney”. He was also an active member of the Pendleton Masonic Lodge.

Dave was a family man who spent much of his time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. After the passing of their daughter Madison, he and his wife took on the parent role for their grandson Wayne, who lovingly referred to Dave as dad. At home, he enjoyed watching scary movies, especially with his children, and was a big fan of the TV series Supernatural. He also followed the St. Louis Cardinals and liked spending time with his two pups, Toto and Wolfie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Maude (Lacey) Barnhouse, and his daughter, Madison Paige Stephens.

Dave is survived by his wife of 30 years, Marcia (Myers) Barnhouse; children, Jonathan Barnhouse, Meghan Barnhouse and husband Christian Flottmann, Joshua Barnhouse (Marissa Reagan), Jarrod Barnhouse, and Jaxon Barnhouse; grandchildren, Wayne, Maverick, and Mason; siblings, Pamela Hayes and husband Rick, Marcella Elder and husband Ricky, Anthony Propst (Laura DeClue); and in-laws, Larry and Bette Myers. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Weiss Cemetery in Doe Run. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the funeral home to help with expenses. Arrangements are under the direction of C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home – Taylor Chapel in Farmington.
