With heavy hearts and sadness we announce the passing of David Lawrence (Larry) Beddingfield of Dade City, Florida. Larry passed away Thursday, August 21st, 2025 in Tampa Florida. Larry was born on June 25th, 1955, in Dade City, FL to parents Leroy C. Beddingfield, Jr and JoAnne Stevens Beddingfield. Larry is survived by the love of his life, Susan (McCabe) Beddingfield, brothers Steve Beddingfield, Steven (Lynn) Clark, Bruce (Lori) Clark, and sister in law Judy Clark. He also leaves behind his special lifelong friend who was considered a brother, Bill O'Grady. He also leaves behind Joseph Hart, who had a special place in his heart and he called him son. Sisters and brothers in law Melinda Norman, Polly (Mark) Edwards, Rosemary (Cliff) Borter, and sister in law Sue (Jim) McCabe, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Larry was preceeded in death by his father Leroy C. Beddingfield, mother JoAnn Stevens Beddingfield Clark, stepfather John T.V. Clark, and brother in law Jim McCabe. As well as maternal and paternal grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Larry attended Zephyrhills Elementary and graduated from Zephyrhills High School in 1973. For most of his life Larry worked as an independent contractor in the home flooring industry, working for many area flooring companies. Larry had many varied interests such as car racing, tinkering with cars, car shows, travelling out west, and working with his hands. He enjoyed the many friends he met along the way through his work and personal life. Larry will be remembered for his kindness and compassion for others, particularly those less fortunate and animals. Larry and Susan saved many stray dogs, cats, and bottle fed many kittens and baby squirrels. He enjoyed tending to his goldfish pond and his fish. He rightfully earned the title of "cat daddy". Larry had an interesting life that was not without challenges at times. He offered an insight to others that touched many lives throughout his life. Larry's love and profound influence on his family and friends will be truly missed but fondly remembered by us all. God bless you, we love you, and rest in peace brother. A visitation will be held Friday, August 29, 2025 from 6-8 pm at Hodges Funeral Home in Dade City, FL. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 am at Hodges Funeral home followed by his burial at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Dade City, FL.
