Robert Beddingfield Obituary

Robert Edward Beddingfield

July 20, 1937 - November 22, 2025

Mineral Bluff, Georgia - Colonel Robert Edward Beddingfield, 88, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025, in Georgia. Born in Tuxedo, North Carolina, he grew up in Hendersonville, Dillon, and Columbia, graduating from Columbia High School before attending Presbyterian College, where he ran track and played football. He later earned an MBA from Appalachian State University, academic achievements in which he took great pride.

Col. Beddingfield went on to serve more than 30 years in the United States Army, holding multiple leadership positions during assignments across the U.S. and overseas. His career included advanced military education at several institutions, including the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He completed two tours in Vietnam and also served during Desert Storm. His decades of service earned him numerous commendations, including two Bronze Stars.

In his later years, he lived in the North Georgia mountains, where he spent many meaningful years living next door to his beloved sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Harvey-back in the mountains he loved so deeply.

He is survived by his children Melissa, Michelle, Maria, Melanie, and Rob; grandchildren Rowan, Evie, Lily, Emma, Levi, Aria, and Naomi; and his sisters Jeanette (Hank), Judy (Harvey), Pat, and Pam (Chip), as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Claude Jr.

A Celebration of Life is planned for June 2026.
