Mr. David "Pops" Bell, age 67, of Rome, GA, received his eternal healing on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Mr. Bell was born in Rome, GA, on August 22, 1957, son of Mrs. Harriett Frances Wheaton Mathis and the late Curtis Eugene "Gene" Bell. He was also preceded in death by his aunt, Nadine Wheaton. Mr. Bell was a 1975 graduate of East Rome High School and went on to receive his Bachelor's in business from Berry College in 1979. He retired from Berry Global in Calhoun where he worked for over 35 years as a Plant Scheduler. He was a faithful member of WE the Church.

An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Bell was a Boy Scout and for many years influenced countless lives as a scout leader, Troop 34. He was also the founder of the Sea Scouts, Ship 414. Mr. Bell loved hunting, fishing, or any activity in which he could enjoy God's creation, especially with his grandkids. He was also an avid coin collector, finding local coin shops any time he traveled. His favorite hobby was road tripping with his wife. Above all, Mr. Bell loved his Savior, Jesus Christ, and is now rejoicing in His presence, fully healed, for eternity.

Survivors include his loving wife, Sheryl Cooper Bell, Rome, to whom he was married in 1979; 3 children, Steven Bell (Alyssa Lowe), Marietta, Brian Bell (Julie), Rome, and Katie Bell Smith (Matt), Rome; 5 grandchildren, Izzy Smith, A.C. Smith, David Wilder Bell, Lillian Bell and Caroline Bell; his mother, Frances Wheaton Mathis; step-mother, Linda Bell Hindman; his brother, Rev. Andy Bell (LaDawn), St. Petersburg, FL; nieces and nephews.

In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Bell will be cremated and a celebration of his life will be held at 6pm on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at WE the Church, 1818 Kingston Hwy., Rome, GA 30161. His pastor, Adam Colston, and son-in-law, Matt Smith, will officiate the service.

The family will receive friends from 4pm until 6pm on Sunday at WE the Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Boy Scouts of America, Atlanta Area Counsel, by clicking here, or to WE the Church's David Bell Memorial Building Fund, by clicking here.
