Cathie Walters Obituary

Mrs. Walters was born in Cartersville, Georgia on December 22, 1955, daughter of the late Robert Shinall and the late Effie Mae Garrett Shinall. She was also preceded in death by a son, Christopher Fortenberry, by a daughter, Cassie Davis, and by six siblings, Pat Tate, Gary Shinall, Jerry Shinall, Linda Baker, Nancy Shinall, and Robyn Roberts. Mrs. Walters was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Douglas William Walters; five children, Daniel Fortenberry (Angela), Stacy Fortenberry, Tracy Fortenberry, Jessica Mobbs, and Doug Walters, Jr. (Lynda); 25 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; two sisters, Vicki Godfrey and Bobbie Sue Johnston; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Rev. Bobby Champion and Rev. Johnny Hann officiating. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Friday from 6 until 8pm.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Saturday at 1:30pm and include Blake Allmon, Kaleb Buck, Douglas Walters, III, Cody Fortenberry, Matthew Fortenberry, and Christopher Alphin. Honorary: Gauge Crabtree and Hunter Crabtree.
