David Best Obituary

David R. Best, a cherished brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, at the age of 60 in Gloucester Township, NJ. Born on August 22, 1965, in Pittsburgh, PA, David grew up in a loving family with his parents, Richard and Jeanne, both of whom predeceased him, and his devoted sisters, Patricia and Mary Best.

David was a graduate of Lenape High School, in Medford NJ, class of 1983. David developed an interest in technology early. This passion led him to a rewarding career as a Network Engineer for Virtua Health. David dedicated over 39 years to Virtua IT, playing a vital role in many key initiatives throughout his career. David was a valued member of the Virtua team where he was respected and admired for his expertise and dedication. His colleagues will remember him as a problem-solver who was always willing to go the extra mile to ensure the smooth operation of the hospital's systems. In addition to his duties as a network engineer, David was extremely active in the Virtua Health Softball team, the "Corporate Storm", for over 20 years. Here he demonstrated his talent in the game, as a player, as a coach, as team "statistician", and especially writing the team's highlights after the game. During this time, the Corporate Storm, won the championship in 2018.

Outside of work, David was a dedicated sports fan, with an equal passion for the Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Dallas Cowboys. His loyalty to his teams was unwavering, and he could often be found wearing their colors, whether it was game day or not.

David's enthusiasm for life was evident through his varied interests. He was an avid NASCAR fan (especially #3 Dale Earnhardt), spending many weekends and holidays driving to races, cheering on his favorite drivers and even getting a chance to take the cars around the track. His love for classic cars was more than a hobby; it was a way for him to connect with the past and appreciate the craftsmanship of bygone eras.

Family was paramount to David, and he took immense joy in the accomplishments and happiness of his nieces and nephews, Elijah, Olivia, Micaela, Emily, and Matthew. Uncle David, as he was affectionately known, was a constant presence at family gatherings. His support and love were endless, and the memories created with him will be cherished forever. He was a devoted "dog father" to Daisy who he cherished and who passed away just before David did.

David R. Best will be remembered for his passion, his gentle spirit, wonderful humor and his laughter. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him, but his free spirit and legacy of kindness and passion for life will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. David's life is a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived, and the enduring impact one person can have on so many.

As we say goodbye to David, we take solace in the knowledge that his was a life full of joy, love, and connection. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him.

There will be a visitation Saturday October 18, 2025, from 10:30 am to 11:30 pm at Earle Funeral Home 122 W. Church St. Blackwood, NJ 08012. Memorial service to follow. Interment private at the request of the family.
