David Lee Biele Sr., of Salem, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Salem Memorial Hospital at the age of 82.
David was born on July 5, 1942, in Chesterfield, Missouri, to the late Ralph and Verneal (Honey) Manger Biele. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, a duty he carried with honor throughout his life.
David married the love of his life, Vivian Jessen Dean. Their union brought together a blended family of seven children-a bond he cherished deeply. David was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose love extended beyond bloodlines. He embraced Vivian's children as his own, and together they built a warm and loving home.
A man of many passions, David loved fishing, gardening, and barbecuing. He delighted in sharing the bounty of his garden with friends and family and welcomed everyone to his table with open arms and a generous heart. His home was often filled with laughter, good food, and the warmth of togetherness.
David was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Salem, where he was an active parishioner until his health no longer allowed. He was also a proud member of American Legion Post #99, continuing his service to his fellow veterans and community.
David is survived by his children: David Lee Biele Jr. and wife Ginger of Salem, MO; Carol Akers and husband Ronnie of Batesville, AR; Ross Dean and friend Rachel of Salem, MO; and Dana Dean of Salem, MO.
He is also survived by his brother, Ralph Biele of Jefferson City, MO; grandchildren: Brandon Biele, Alec Biele, Whitney Biele, Morgan Smith, Lydia Headrick, Jodie Dean, Dusty Barnes, Aubrey Barnes, Lacy Barnes, and Kendra Stephens; and a host of extended family and dear friends. In addition to his parents, Ralph and Honey Biele, David was preceded in death by his brother, John Biele; sister, Mary Roth; daughters, Jeanie Whitaker, Cathy Bettigrew, and Candice Barnes.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Salem Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary. Visitation will take place at the Chapel prior to the service, from 11:00 AM until service time. David will be laid to rest with full military honors beside his beloved Vivian.
David Lee Biele Sr. will be remembered for his big heart, his steady hand, and the love he shared with all who knew him.
