Glenna Steelman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by James & Gahr Mortuary - Salem on Dec. 20, 2025.
Glenna Mae Steelman (Halbrook, Romine), of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, formerly of Salem, Missouri, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center at the age of 91. Glenna was one of ten children born to the late Reamy and Erma (Kell) Steelman. She graduated from high school and enrolled in college, but after her freshman year decided to enter the workforce. Glenna spent many years as a pastor's wife and was deeply devoted to her Pentecostal faith. She raised her four children in the church and lived her life as an example of faith, love, and service. Glenna enjoyed singing at church, cooking for her family-especially during holiday gatherings-and working in her yard and flower beds, where she grew beautiful flowers each summer. Above all else, she took great pride in raising her four children. She also cherished the companionship of her beloved four-legged friend, Skippy. Glenna was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose memory will forever remain in our hearts. She is survived by her children, Dwayne Halbrook and wife Darla of Atlanta, Georgia, Kenneth Halbrook of Kokomo, Indiana, and Frankie Romine and wife Tilsa of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; one brother, Larry Steelman and wife Brenda of Fenton, Missouri; sisters, Thorlene Lough of O'Fallon, Missouri, Loretta DeWitt of Willow Springs, Missouri, Deloris Petty of St. Louis, Missouri, and Helen Elmer and husband Bill of Nixa, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. In addition to her parents, Glenna was preceded in death by her son, Richard "Ricky" Halbrook; brothers, Stanley, Gurnell, and Dorman Steelman; and sister, Dorella Beckett. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at the Salem Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the chapel from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Salem.
