David Billick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral and Cremation Center on Sep. 19, 2024.
David Billick, age 78, of Amherst passed peacefully at home on September 15, 2024 with his wife, son and daughter at his side.
Dave married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Voytko, on October 12, 1968 and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage. As a devoted husband, he honored his promise to her parents to always take good care of Pat. He was her caregiver for the past five years.
David was an alumnus of Admiral King High School (class of 1964), Kent State University, Cuyahoga Community College, and the Institute of Computer Management. He was a recipient of Kiwanis and Dale Carnegie awards. He graduated police training having been awarded badge #1 for his achievements. He served as an auxiliary police officer for the city of Stow. He was sponsored throughout his professional career receiving extended scholastics through Kepner Trego, Nolan Norton, and Management Development Foundation for problem analysis, project management, and standards & procedures.
He was a former member of the Data Processing Management Association, Slovak Home, St John, St Raphael and St Jospeh parishes and was a 2008 Lorain Sports Hall of Fame inductee.
Many may remember Dave for his imposing 6'8" 250 lbs. frame, his athletic abilities and numerous accolades. However, this is not where his heart laid. The lessons he learned as an athlete on the courts and fields about not giving up and never losing the will to win transferred over and served him well throughout his personal life and professional career.
He was retired having career positions at Medical Mutual of Cleveland, Revco D.S. of Twinsburg and ADI of Sheffield. He concluded his career as Manufacturing Coordinator with American Engineering & Manufacturing, Inc of Elyria, a small company that does contract work for the government military. He regarded his close knit AEMI colleagues not only as friends, but as part of his family.
Dave is survived by his immediate family; his wife, Pat; son Jason (Ernand) of California; daughter Amy Berg (Carl) of South Carolina. His dearly beloved grandchildren Justin, Griffin, Vanessa, and Vivian; sister Phyllis Teleha (Andy) of Florida; as well as his loyal golden retriever, Chance.
Per Dave's wishes, private services to be held by the immediate family. Arrangements are under the care of Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, Amherst. To send an online condolence, please visit www.dovinreberjones.com.

I came across this letter you sent me when we first met each other Dave. Sorry to hear you passed away. I remember you were so worried about getting home to your wife to take care of her and I remember that you were so devoted to her. My Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. You were such a nice guy that day, All I wanted to do was make sure that you made it home to her safe. Rest in peace sir!

My heart is heavy when I ponder the loss of this kind and compassionate man. I have known him since he was 3 and I was 2 as we played together on 30th street where we both lived. And for the past 20 or so years we worked together at AEMI. To the Billick family you have my deepest condolences. David was a wonderful man and a great friend. I shall miss him greatly. You all will remain in my prayers and we should all focus on the wonderful memories he has left us with. Bless you all.
