David Mitchell Bishop Jr., 67, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Norton Audubon Hospital surrounded by family and loved ones. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Rhonda Jo Bishop, his father, David M. Bishop Sr., his sister Tamara Barton, his 3 children Syd Michael Bishop (Elizabeth), Lindsay Beyer (Will), and Ashley Beams (Mike), and his 3 grandchildren Ida and August Bishop and Caroline Beams. He is preceded in passing by his mother Betty Bishop, and his granddaughter Ella Grace.
David Mitchell Bishop Jr., or just Mitch to anyone who knew him, was always a mixed bag of a person who might be ornery in one moment and have the sweetest thing to say the very next. He was honest to a fault, but thoughtful and really considered how he made people feel. His kindness and empathy, his willingness to consider other perspectives is something to be cherished. He will be in our memories forever and will live on in our hearts.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Hwy, at John Harper Freeway). Visitation will be Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial to follow in Brookland Cemetery.
