David Bohne Obituary

Our beloved husband and father, David Allen Bohne, of Eagan, passed away March 7, 2026, in Minneapolis at 79 years of age.
David was born Jan. 14, 1947, in Melrose, the son of Norman Seward Bohne and Vivian Rose (Walker) Bohne. He grew up in Sauk Centre and graduated from Sauk Centre High School in 1965. His parents owned a hardware store (Bohne's Hardware) in Sauk Centre where David worked while attending high school and college. In 1969, he graduated from the University of Minnesota, Morris with a bachelor's degree in math and physics. He then attended the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities Graduate School, where he received a master's degree in math in 1973. While in graduate school, he worked as a teaching associate in the physics and math departments.

In 1973, David started a 37-plus year career working for Lockheed Martin and predecessor companies in Eagan. His career consisted of many positions, including management positions in program management, marketing and engineering. He spent the last 15 years as an engineering director, leading hundreds of engineers in the design, development, testing and production of a wide range of products for the U.S. and allied defense forces. Although Eagan was always his home base, at various times he was responsible for large engineering centers in Montreal, Canada, and San Diego, California. David was well-known for his proposal writing and management skills, landing many very high value (billion dollar plus) contracts. David mentored many Lockheed Martin engineers, who became very accomplished managers and executives. David's wise counsel, uplifting demeanor and patience were greatly appreciated by Sharon, his children and all who knew him.

On Jan 3, 1981, David married Sherri Jo Gottschalk. They had two children: Tiffany and Christopher. David and Sherri divorced in 1986. David then raised his children without a partner until he met the love of his life, Sharon L. Hanson, in 1994, and they married May 6, 1995, in Pasadena, California. David and Sharon loved to travel, visiting 67 countries on six continents, all 50 United States and almost all of Canada. David will be so deeply missed by his wife, Sharon, of 31 years as he is the most fantastic man she has ever known and loved as well as his devotion to his daughter, Tiffany and son Christopher as the most remarkable father in giving generous good counsel and loving dedication to all three of them.

David was a long-time member of Easter Lutheran Church in Eagan, where he was an usher and a member of the global missions committee. He served on the City of Eagan Planning Commission from 1980-87. David was an avid genealogist and excellent gardener; his yard was a certified National Wildlife Federation wildlife habitat.

David is survived by his wife, Sharon Hanson Bohne; daughter, Tiffany Leigh Veerkamp (Matthew); son, Christopher Allen Bohne (Courtney); stepdaughter, Joanna Beth Wilson; sister, Barbara Bohne Mahnke; nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, the Rev. Ronald Mahnke.

A visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, March 16, at Klecatsky & Sons Funeral Home, 1580 Century Point, Eagan, MN. A Celebration of Life will be at Easter Lutheran Church, 4545 Pilot Knob Road in Eagan on March 26, with a visitation from 12:30-2 p.m. before the celebration of David's life at Easter Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Sauk Centre. Donations may be made to Tanzania missions at Easter Lutheran Church in Eagan.
