David Brach Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ferrara Colonial Mortuary - Orange on Oct. 28, 2025.
David Michael Brach, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, in Irvine, California, at the age of 91. Born on July 31, 1934, in Agawam, Massachusetts, David's life was a testament to his loving, kind, and faith-filled spirit.
David grew up in Agawam and Chicopee Falls, where he attended local schools and laid the foundations of a life characterized by service and dedication. Following his education, he enlisted in the Navy, proudly serving his country during the Korean War Era as a Marine electrician. His time in the service imbued him with a sense of discipline and honor that he carried throughout his life.
After being honorably discharged from the Navy, David transitioned to civilian life, embarking on a 50-year career as an electrician. His skill and work ethic were unmatched, and he became the go-to person for anyone in need of his expertise.
He met Fidelma O'Doherty at the Snow Bounders Ski Club and married in 1981 at the Bishop's Chapel, St Georges, Grenada West Indies with his wife's sister Dr. Maeve Stuhlmann who lived on the island. Together they celebrated over 44 years of marriage.
David's love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for camping, fishing, hunting, and both snow and water skiing. The water, in particular, was his sanctuary, and he spent countless hours exploring the depths through deep-sea diving. In his later years, David's love for the outdoors was channeled into his passion for golf. He not only played the sport but also served on the golf committee and chaired golf fundraising events for the Knights of Columbus, demonstrating his commitment to giving back to the community.
A man of faith and community spirit, David was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge, and the American Legion. His camaraderie shone as a proud member of the ROMEO Club, "Retired Old Men Eating Out Club," where he enjoyed the company of friends and fellow veterans. David's dedication to service was further evidenced by his volunteer work, particularly at the Annual Donate Life Run/Walk Fundraiser at Fullerton College, an event he proudly participated in alongside his wife, Fidelma.
David's devotion to his family was unwavering. He is survived by his loving wife, Fidelma O'Doherty Brach, his children from his first marriage; daughter Jill and her husband Chuck Grimm, his son Daniel and his wife Cindy Brach, his grandsons, Chad, Craig, Tyson, Uriel, and Chapin, and his granddaughters Ashley and Chelsea, along with his great-grandchildren. David's role as a family patriarch was filled with love, guidance, and the kind of practical wisdom that only a lifetime of rich experiences can provide.
As a devout Catholic, David was an active member of La Purisima Catholic Church, where his faith was both a personal solace and an inspiration to others. His life was a living example of his beliefs, and he touched the lives of many through his generosity and unwavering support.
David Michael Brach's legacy is one of love, service, and an enduring commitment to his faith and family. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He has left an indelible mark on this world and will be deeply missed.
