Memorial services for David Lynn Braley, of Longview, Texas, will be held at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at First Baptist Church, Gladewater with Brother Bailey Harris officiating. The family will receive friends at 2:00 pm prior to the service. Arrangements are under the direction of McWhorter Funeral Home. David was born on December 10, 1946, in Sims, Texas, to Festus Orestus Braley and Effie Graham Braley and passed from this life on August 29, 2025, surrounded by his family. David proudly served our country in the United States Army. He married Lelia Bonner on November 1, 1969, at Red Springs Baptist Church. David worked for Union Pacific Railroad for over 32 years before his retirement. With a true servant's heart, he was a member of First Baptist Church, where he enjoyed cooking for everyone. His hobbies included hunting and fishing. He was an avid cruiser and enjoyed taking his family on road trips. As a grandfather, he taught his grandchildren the importance of hard work and to always be on time. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lelia Braley; children, Shaun Braley (Jenifer), April Riggs (Chris), and Jamie Braley (Ashli); brother, Wendell Braley; brother-in-law, David Bonner (Judy); grandchildren, Allison (Taylor), Kasha, Kiara, Jacob, Treston (Kaitlyn), Chrisalin, Gavin (Taylor), Tucker, Addisyn, and Mason; great-grandchildren, Khloe, and Cove (coming soon); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Festus and Effie Braley; brother, Pat Braley; sister-in-law, Lynda Braley; and sister, Marvis Keel. With grateful memories from high school days and reunions of recent years, I've appreciated David's encouragements. My prayers are now for the Lord Jesus Christ to comfort Leila and the family with grace and peace in these days of transition. Roger Hammonds
