In Loving Memory of David Wayne Brinlee
It is with heavy hearts that we remember David Wayne Brinlee, 59, of Cedar Hill, Texas, who passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025. David was born on January 21, 1966, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Gene Brinlee and Jane Griffin. On August 13, 2005, he married Kasey Lyons in Jefferson, Texas, beginning a life filled with laughter, love, and adventure.
David possessed a remarkable sense of humor-his quick wit and playful quips never failed to bring a smile to those around him. Growing up, he deeply loved his parents and siblings. Always willing to lend a helping hand, he looked after his younger brothers and sister with care, forming a special bond with his middle brother through their shared sense of humor.
David's love for the outdoors was unmatched. He embraced every opportunity to hike and camp, often inviting others to join him in exploring the mountains. His son, Jonathan, was his constant companion on these adventures, and together they created countless memories filled with connection, laughter, and love.
As a grandfather, David found immense joy in sharing his passion for nature. He delighted in buying hiking boots for his grandchildren, eager to pass along his adventurous spirit. One of his fondest memories was their first trip together to Big Bend National Park, a place he held close to his heart. Over the past 15 years, he and Kasey spent countless moments there, traveling in their Airstream and discovering new adventures across numerous National Parks. David had a gift for turning every journey into an unforgettable experience.
David's heart was generous and full. He lovingly embraced his two stepchildren, Jake and Abigail, raising them as his own and cherishing the family they built together.
Above all, David's faith in Jesus was the cornerstone of his life. His deep knowledge of Scripture and unwavering spiritual commitment guided his relationships and inspired those around him.
As we say goodbye to David, we celebrate the incredible man he was-his laughter, kindness, and love will continue to echo in our hearts. His spirit will forever be with us, and we plan to honor him by returning his ashes to Big Bend, his beloved place of peace and beauty.
David is survived by his wife, Kasey Brinlee; son, Jonathan Brinlee and wife Katie, of Sherman, Texas; stepson, Jake Tooley, of Denton, Texas; stepdaughter, Abigail Tooley, of Eugene, Oregon; father, Gene Brinlee, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; brothers, Carl Brinlee, of Wichita Falls, Texas, and John Brinlee; sister, Marie Morrison and husband Matt, of St. Joe, Texas; and three beloved grandchildren, Hayden, Jackson, and Camden.
