David W. Brittain, age 78, of South Branch, MI., passed away on January 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 24, 1947, in Pontiac, MI., to the late Lawrence and Evelyn (Brown) Brittain and he was one of two children.
David was raised in the Royal Oak, MI., area where he graduated from Kimball High School in Royal Oak. He was drafted by the United States Army where he served in the Vietnam war from 1966 – 1968 as a radio telephone operator (RTO). David was honorably discharged and returned to Royal Oak.
David married the love of his life, Nancy (Faulkner) Brittain, on January 28, 1972. They had two children, Jill and Julie. David went to work for Ford Motor Sterling Axle Plant. He became an environmental engineer and worked for 28 years and then retired. He and Nancy retired to Jose Lake where David enjoyed living on the lake where he could fish and do woodworking to make projects for his family.
David is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Jill Rich and Julie (Jeremy) Nadolski; sister, Claudia (John) Olivier; grandchildren, Annabelle, Jackson, Isabella, and Maxwell.
David is preceded in death by his parents. Family will hold a celebration of life to be announced later in the year.
